Personal Description:
Hi!
I'm Casey. I'm a French and Psychology student at Memorial University of Newfoundland, right now I am living in Quebec City to do an exchange at Laval as a part of my French degree.
I love learning, and helping others find ways to learn that are outside of the ways traditionally taught inside the classroom is a huge passion of mine.
I am a cat mom to a Siamese called Milky, and I intend to study Speech-Language Pathology when I finish my undergraduate degree.
Tutoring Experience:
I have tutored for multiple years now privately in my home province. I have mainly focused on tutoring Middle/High School students because there is a large demand in tutoring for this age group. I intend and hope to begin tutoring younger elementary-aged children, and some university-level students.
I have run an educational based summer camp for children aged 5-12 in the past.
Tutoring Approach:
I always take our first meeting and try to make it casual, I get to know my student, and ask them to have a list prepared of their strengths and weaknesses in the subject we are focusing on. I then discuss this list and we make a plan for what we will focus on most, and what we will focus on least. I try to approach tutoring in a way so that it is not just sitting and me talking for an hour or more straight. Having the student involved and speaking up is important.
I always try to meet with the parents as well to know what their expectations are. From there we will try an approach, and if it doesn't fit the student, we go on to the next.
