Personal Description:

Hi, I'm Carmen! I completed my undergraduate degree in Chemistry and I'm currently finishing up a Master's in Environmental Science. In the fall of 2021, I'll be starting my Bachelor of Education to become a teacher. I really enjoy learning, being outdoors, reading, and working in the lab!

Tutoring Experience:

Although I am just starting out as a science and math tutor, I've worked many summers as a camp counselor teaching kids and teens how to canoe and kayak, as well as teaching a variety of other outdoor skills. I am excited to combine my love of teaching with my love of science.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to approach all subjects by really focusing on and mastering the basics so we have a solid foundation to approach all other topics. I first like to learn what a student's strengths and weaknesses are so together we can focus on improving the areas that the student finds more challenging. I also think it's important to try a variety of learning techniques to accommodate all types of learning styles. I also always like to approach every tutoring session with a growth mindset, especially if a subject is particularly challenging.
