Tutoring Experience:
Caitlin completed a 3 section English LTO with Upper Grand District School Board in 2014. She taught Grade 9 Applied English, Grade 11 University English, and Grade 12 College English. She also taught Grade 12 University English in summer school. Caitlin offered quality one-on-one and small-group support as a teacher in the classroom as well as before and after school hours, and was involved in the OSSLT preparation program, which offered individual and small group tutoring.
Tutoring Approach:
Caitlin's approach to tutoring involves really getting to know the student in all of his/her strengths, areas of need, and interests. She believes that students need to be excited and interested in what they're learning, so making connections to their lives and how it connects to the bigger picture is important. Caitlin believes that an organized notebook and daily planner are essential, and goal setting is imperative in achieving short and long-term results. Learning is fun. Mastering a skill is exciting. Helping students truly understand what they're being taught is being able to apply that skill or knowledge to a variety of situations.
