BuckPersonal Description:
My educational background is in Psychology and Religious Studies (college majors), English and History (college minors), as well as ongoing classes, reading and instruction in history, literature, philosophy, and religion.
I am a certified, experienced instructor in English as a Second Language seeking new employment outside of The United States. In addition to six years experience in English language classroom instruction and one-on-one tutoring at all levels and aspects of English language acquisition, I have several years of experience in technical, academic, marketing and professional business writing and editing in the medical, engineering and legal professions.
Specialties: Technical writing; grant preparation; legal, medical and/or engineering document writing and preparation in professional and academic environments.
Tutoring Experience:
Eight years as an instructor in ESL, several casual appointments in English, History and Religious Studies.
Tutoring Approach:
In ESL, I use a communicative approach, which involves speaking and listening with the student to allow the student to make his/her own conclusions regarding the proper use of the language. In any subject I do not guide the a student to a specific answer all the time, but rather guide the student to learn how to learn.
