I began private tutoring in 2010 in the United States. Immediately, I appreciated the 1-1 learning environment that allows me to build trusting relationships with my students. My method has always been to guide, not do, meaning that I teach concrete study skills students can use outside our sessions and at home, without needing me.

I view each session as an exercise in confidence-building, while reenforcing positive attitudes towards academics. I work hard for my students. They see this example and work to match my dedication. 100% I see improvements every session.

Tutoring Approach:

I speak gently, but my students know that my attitude towards teaching is sincere. We have a lot of fun, actually, tackling problems together, and my students often enjoy that I don't give away answers. They learn to appreciate doing it themselves. For this, tutoring is very rewarding both for them and for me!

I ask a lot of my students, that they self-reflect and self-diagnose their own weakness with their subjects. Then, we work on very practical ways to tackle these weakness or insecurities each session. I always end with a short assessment of the skills we've worked on and ask my students for feedback on the session. It's important that they realize what they're getting out of each session, and let me know if they prefer a different approach or alternative exercises. No two students learn the same!

My sessions focus on:
- specific study skills (i.e. use notecards, spend less time on this, practice those problems, read this book)
- reenforcing positive study habits (i.e. take class notes like this, organize binders, use this resource, read 3x/week, ask your teacher for extra help)
- addressing weakness in learning efficiency or skill uptake (i.e. I'll teach how to solve a problem, then we practice, practice, practice)
- confidence-building (i.e. You got this! You can do it! Look how easy that was for you!)
