Personal Description:

I am TESL Ontario/ OCELT certified instructor with passion for teaching. I have worked with and taught people from variety of backgrounds and cultures both in Canada and the US. My work experience includes ESL tutoring, ESL teaching, working as a councillor, child care provider, front desk associate in Hilton and Marriott hotels and administrative assistant. Throughout my career I have developed a deep understanding of the challenges and obstacles new immigrants face after arriving to Canada with the language barrier being the most prominent one. It is my desire to help my students overcome some of these obstacles.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that for students to construct knowledge, they need the opportunity to practice skills in authentic, real life situations. I design lessons that are learner- centered and make the learning experience relevant to their life, needs and interests. It is also important to create an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect, where students feel comfortable making mistakes, taking risks and ownership of their learning.
