Personal Description:
My name is Bérangère Maïa Natasha **Removed By Admin**. I am a French-Canadian scholar born and raised in Montreal. I am a published researcher, polyglot, multidisciplinary artist and documentary filmmaker. I am fully bilingual in French and English. I am currently working diligently to become fluent in Mandarin in speaking, reading and writing. My goal is to become fluent in Chinese this year. In May 2006, I graduated with a Master of Fine Arts (MFA), major in film from California College of the Arts in San Francisco, California, United States. More recently, I graduated with a Master of Arts in Asia Pacific Policy Studies (M.A.A.P.P.S) from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. My UBC M.A.A.P.P.S thesis “Dragon Tears: on the political ecology of planetary survival,” was one of the best of my program. On October 27th, 2017, I gave a lecture on my research on environmental law in China at the University of British Columbia Allard School of Law as part of the “Coordinating Performance in International Trade and Human Rights Asia Pacific Dispute Resolution Program Summary Conference” supported by the Major Collaborative Research Initiative MCRI at Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council SSHRC.
Tutoring Experience:
I have 15 years of experience teaching visual art, painting and drawing, political science, video production, Mandarin for beginners, English and French (all levels), in China, San Francisco, Vancouver and Montreal! More recently, I have been teaching French for beginners online.
Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tutoring is verry patient and compassionate. I will adapt the course material to student’s level and most pressing needs to ensure positivity throughout the learning process with the goal of tailored knowledge-based progress. I am rigorous in my methodology. My classes are dynamic in nature, well structure and fun! I have a great sense of humor and I love having fun in class. I have been learning Mandarin for 15 years, and therefore I have a very deep understanding of the process and challenges of beginning to learn a foreign language. Learning French is a difficult process but it’s a deeply valuable one, and it is truly extraordinary to be able to relate and communicate with people from various cultural backgrounds.
