Personal Description:
Coming to the U.S. in eighth grade, I studied hard to conquer the English barrier, graduated from Orange County School of the Arts (OCSA) valedictorian with distinction, and earned admission to the Johns Hopkins University. As a student myself, I excelled in math classes and standardized tests (perfect score on both SAT and the SAT Subject Test Math Level II, earned highest score on AP Calculus AB & BC exams). In addition, I am the captain of my school's science team. I have earned Science Olympiad medals at the sta**Contact Detail Removed**vel. My scientific research project has also made me a Regeneron Science Talent Search Top 300 scholar. Through study and extracurricular activities, I have gained solid understandings of mathematical and scientific concepts and problem solving strategies that I would love to share it with my students.
Tutoring Experience:
I have tutored Algebra I and Pre-Calculus students in my neighborhood. I went over the homework with them, created extra practice problems and showing them the resources they can use to succeed. At OCSA, I did hours of tutoring work as a member of the California Scholarship Federation. I have tutored dozens of students struggling in difficult STEM classes such as AP Calculus AB/BC, AP Physics 1/2/C, AP Chemistry, and Algebra 2/Trig.
Tutoring Approach:
I have a passion for helping people to understand abstract concepts in math and science through the usage of analysis, analogy, and examples. I make theories and ideas fun and approachable, and helped many students improving their grades and test scores significantly.
