Personal Description:
I have excellent science communication and writing skills. I am currently doing my PhD in Medical Science at the University of Cambridge. I have a Master of Science degree in Molecular Genetics from the University of Toronto. I have worked on several biomedical research projects at SickKids Hospital. My Bachelor of Science degree is also from the University of Toronto where I majored in both Molecular Biology and Genetics making me familiar with many biology courses. I know how to specifically prepare you for each class. I have peer-reviewed publications and more than 10 years of science experience. I love teaching biology and do my best to prepare my students for midterms and exams to get them good marks. I also help my students off session for free since my top priority is the student's success. I use my teaching skills to get you to the apex of knowledge with enthusiasm and productivity along the road.
Tutoring Experience:
I have mentored high school, undergraduate, and graduate students in biology, biochemistry, microbiology and genetics for more than 8 years. I always get positive feedback from my previous students. I love teaching and make the most of it to help my students. I have taken many diverse classes in biology and chemistry throughout my studies and taught most of them to students.
If you are studying specifically for exams, midterms, or finals then I will aim our sessions in a specific direction to teach you some nice tricks to properly address test questions and get you good marks. University professors love giving tricky questions, which is helpful to tell apart A+ students from A students. I will teach you how to properly address such questions and increase your exam performance. I will prepare a specific schedule based on your course materials to make you an A+ student and the only pre-requisite that I need is your curiosity. I use a lot of resources for teaching including many quizzes for practice, past midterms/exams, large screen TV, whiteboard, access to large seminar rooms etc. For a quiz, midterm or final exam I can guarantee you a mark of over 80/100 if you follow my tips.
If you scored low in your first midterm there is nothing to worry about as I will prepare a specific schedule targeting the second midterm and the final exam to increase your overall course mark.
Also if you have a hard time understanding a primary research article in any biology field (e.g. genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, physiology… ) I will teach you how to properly read methods and figures and will help you understand the findings in detail.
Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tutoring is to initiate your interest and to spark your curiosity which is ingrained in all of us. I am using the Socratic method of teaching that involves constructive discussions and an argumentative dialogue of the relevant topics making it more interesting and easier for students to capture and understand the complex scientific jargon and terminology.
