Personal Description:
I am a recent B.Sc. Honors Chemistry graduate from University of Alberta. I am currently looking for a job in the field and I think it is a great idea to help others learn chemistry. I studied it for over 4 years and know that some topics seem confusing at first, but with the proper approach they can be easier to learn. Chemistry does not need to be a scary topic.
Tutoring Experience:
Honestly, I have no professional tutoring experience. However, I have participated in and held study sessions with my peers to complete lab reports and assignments, and to prepare for exams.
Tutoring Approach:
Before tutoring, I like to to prepare study material in advance for instance, diagrams or videos to help explain theory and practice problems, for the topic(s) that need to be covered. Since tutoring has moved online, Microsoft PowerPoint presentations are a great way to present material and can be supplemented using ChemDraw and other software so appropriate diagrams can be used. I always have different ways to explain something, as I know that "the classical" method is not always "the best" method for the differently built mindsets.
