Personal Description:
I am a PhD candidate in Classics at the University of Toronto. I have been a tutor for the last 7 years in Latin, the Classics, History, and English. I completed my MA and BA with distinction at the University of Victoria in Classics. I am available to tutor in a variety of subjects: Classics, English, literature, history, essay writing, and strengthening study habits.
Tutoring Experience:
Teaching Assistant - University of Toronto (Jan. 2019 to ongoing)
Freelance Private Latin Tutor (Sept. 2018 to ongoing)
Latin Tutor - St. Michael's University School (Sept. 2015 to June 2017)
Teaching Assistant - University of Victoria (Sept. 2016 to April 2018)
Latin for Teens Assistant - Greater Victoria Public Library (Sept. 2015 to April 2016)
Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tutoring meets the students' needs and goals. This will depend on an individual basis and how each student progresses in the material. In the case of Latin, I primarily focus on securing grammar knowledge while establishing familiarity with the base vocabulary. However, this is not how every student best learns languages. Thus, each approach is developed according to a student's strengths and their goals. In every session I bring an unrivaled enthusiasm to help encourage student learning.
