Personal Description:
I graduated from the University of Victoria with a Bachelor of Education and an Early Childhood Assistant Certificate, with a GPA of 3.75/4.00. I also obtained my TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) Honours Diploma in the summer of 2017.
Tutoring Experience:
I worked as an Education Director, daycare teacher and a full time teacher. I have four years of tutoring experience, teaching students from preschool to grade 12. I also have administrative experience as well as creating individualized programs and doing student assessments.
Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tutoring is to always begin with a diagnostic assessment to create an individualized program based on the students' level. The three tools I always try to model and teach students are empathy, goal setting and self-reflection. With these three tools, I believe students will have the confidence in taking charge of their future. Empathy is to create good reputation and relationships, goal-setting is to create motivation and self-reflection is to create the strive for improvement.
To help students understand and know how to use these tools, I use a variety of materials to reinforce concepts. I use pictures, manipulatives and repetition to learn and I create small games to keep their interest and curiosity. My passion to help students continually gives me the motivation to find innovative ways to motivate students and become a better educator.
