Tutoring Experience:
I have been teaching children, youth and adults as a volunteer and professional for over 15 years. As a graduate student I led undergraduate classes and labs for first and second year anthropology students getting a grounding in the physical sciences. I also tutored high school students in university preparatory math, english, science and french. As a professional I have taught within Canada and Internationally on a variety of development topics including climate change, conservation, sustainable agriculture, and developing leadership skills. I have developed innovative curriculum for learners of all ages, abilities and cultural backgrounds to allow for positive learning experiences. My ultimate goal is to always put the student first, to make life long learning exciting and interesting and to support them in achieving academic/professional/personal goals.
Tutoring Approach:
For the 2018/2019 academic year I am only offering online tutoring.
My approach to tutoring is to assess the student's needs and customize lesson plans based on what will help them learn. It is important to me to recognize student's strengths and to help them build upon them in a safe, non-judgemental and supportive way. As a lifelong learner deeply curious about the world around me I also believe it is important to support students to develop sound study skills and to approach learning in a balanced way, where learning is fun, homework is manageable and positive results are possible.
