Personal Description:
As a math tutor, I developed a passion for teaching as an undergraduate student. I believe learning requires structure, which is even more important than practice. I have become effective at analysis, which lets me break things down to fine details, and synthesis, which lets me view the big picture. When teaching, I apply how I learn.
Tutoring Experience:
I earned my bachelor's degree in Biochemistry. Pursuing a medical career, I maintain a strong teaching philosophy to best serve my tutees. I get a feel for what they want to cover, their knowledge level, and what material is available to help. I can help in subjects such as algebra and calculus.
Tutoring Approach:
My general teaching philosophy revolves around working from small to big. I structure tutoring sessions into three blocks, which include identifying problems and planning the lesson, explaining concepts and solving problems, and providing a review and outline. I also believe consistency and repetition are important for independent learning while using real-life examples helps improve motivation.
