Personal Description:

I am a passionate, enthusiastic, and motivated tutor who strives to assist my students in all aspects of their life. This pandemic has been difficult for all age groups, however, our children have suffered significantly. The inconsistency between online and in-person learning has reduced our children's interest in school and academic potential for the coming years. This is where I would like to assist.
Throughout my personal journey and academic career, I have faced difficulties being a female interested and pursuing STEM academic fields. I never had that one influential person who told me “you can do it, keep trying”. This is what made me want to reach out to younger individuals to be a role model and to show them that they are capable of anything regardless of the gender gap and imbalance in the STEM fields. I am committed to helping my students by creating a safe and enjoyable environment where they can learn and strengthen their academic and personal abilities. I hold a Bachelor of Science and Master of Public Health from the University of Toronto. I have been tutoring math for grades K-10 for four years part-time and I have recently expanded my teaching portfolio to include teaching adults at the college level.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring differs based on the needs of the student. I will tailor my teaching of subjects based on the student's course syllabus. In addition, I focus on particularly weak areas if the student desires. Prior to each unit, the student/ guardian and I will set expectations and throughout the unit, I will provide each student with a progress log and detailed feedback on how they are performing and areas where they need improvement. I provide my students with resources after sessions and I do give homework outside of their daily homework.

I try to diversify my lessons and incorporate technology into my lessons and lead online games as re-enforcement of topics and subjects. Currently doing online tutoring sessions due to pandemic restrictions and once restrictions are lifted, I hope to make my way back to conducting in-person sessions.
