Information About Amy
Cambridge tutorPersonal Description:
I’m 22 years old with an Honours degree in Biology (and a minor in Psychology) from McMaster University. I love learning about a variety of subjects, with my favourites being Biology, Geology and History. Currently working towards becoming a Paleontologist, and saving-up for my Masters.
Tutoring Experience:
Don’t have official paid tutoring experience, but have successfully assisted fellow classmates (and the occasional co-worker) with subjects they were having difficulties in (primarily Geology, Biology and Psychology).
Also was a Tour Guide for two years at African Lion Safari, and have helped out with a program at my local library that involved me having to teach introductory French to elementary-aged children.
Tutoring Approach:
Will focus on areas of difficulty, and break down concepts in a way that can be easily understood.
Will encourage students to try to do as much of the work as they can on their own after working through where they’re having issues, but will of course run through examples to assist their learning.
Promise to NOT be patronising in any way, and to cater to different learning styles and personalities. I’m very patient and friendly, so don’t be shy to bring up any problems you might be having.
My goal is to ensure that you come away from my tutoring sessions with a better understanding of the subject in question, to the point that you would feel comfortable teaching it to someone else (this is the best way of knowing that you’ve truly retained and understood the information).
