Personal Description:
I am a third-year university student who’s studying English Language and Literature. For the current academic year, I am studying abroad at the University of Nottingham, UK. I enjoy reading many genres but my favourite is classics! I have always had a strong passion for literature since I was young, I was always surrounded by people who expressed the importance and value of literacy!
Tutoring Experience:
I have not tutored in the past but I have extensive knowledge and practice with constructing essays, formulating theses, and analysing various passages of prose and poetry. I was able to maintain above an A-level grade in secondary school for all my English classes, as well as throughout my current degree. But I have been a swimming instructor for 4 years which has enabled me to construct lesson plans on a weekly basis. So I do have experience implementing lessons and tailoring them to students' own goals.
Tutoring Approach:
Each week we’d focus on one topic that applies to what the student would like to achieve in their lessons. Whether that be how to write a basic five-paragraph essay or how to analyse prose fiction or poetry. Depending on the progress of the student with the exercises I’ll have arranged, we can either spend another week on the same topic or move on. But tutoring shouldn't just be active listening, it should incorporate an appropriate amount of opportunities for the student to be interactive with what they’re learning; this is the core of my tutoring philosophy.
