Personal Description:

Hello! My name is Alessandra and I am a biological sciences student at the University of Alberta entering my second year in the science program in 2020. I am a friendly yet dedicated student that puts great emphasis on achieving the academic success that one strives for. In high school I got honors with distinction for all 3 years and ended with an IB certificate alongside my high school diploma. I achieved a 85% an above for all my subjects including Math 20, Math 30, Math 31, English 20, English 30, Biology 20, Biology 30, Biology 10 and Chemistry 10, Chemistry 20 and Chemistry 30. Therefore, if I could do it and end up in a good university with a good standing then I believe you can as well!

Tutoring Experience:

I am no stranger to tutoring my peers as I would frequently do such in high school when anyone needed some help in their studies. I have experience with those that are not my age too as I have a younger sibiling in high school currently and I help him often with his work. I am looking to in my upcoming 2nd year at the UofA to branch out and help even more people achieve at least a portion of their academical goals.

Tutoring Approach:

I take a friendly approach where I will hear and develop a relationship with the student to then be able to evaluate to the best of their needs may be. I am a Spanish heritage speaker so my background can help in the study of Spanish 20 or 30 for the student. As well, I have received high 90's on both of my Biology and Math 20 diplomas. I start with a evaluative approach and then once I see what they need help in then I go through previous problem sets and give them tips on how to learn the things they are struggling with. Whether you are a junior high, elementary or high school student I will adapt my teaching practices to best suit you.
