Information About Alesha

Oshawa tutor

Personal Description:

Born in Canada and raised in Zambia, I completed my primary and secondary education at the International School of Lusaka 2007-2021)… successfully obtaining my GCSE qualifications (2021). Upon returning to Canada, I pursued a rigorous academic pathway, beginning with the Pre-Health Sciences program at Durham College (2021-2022), which provided a strong foundation in the biomedical and health sciences. I then advanced my studies in the three-year Dental Hygiene program at Durham College (2022-2024), where I honed my clinical competencies in preventive and therapeutic oral healthcare. Through comprehensive clinical rotations, I gained proficiency in conducting oral health assessments, implementing periodontal therapies, and delivering patient-centred education. My ability to provide meticulous and empathetic care has been reinforced by strong interpersonal and communication skills, allowing me to cultivate meaningful patient relationships and foster an environment of trust and education. Consistently receiving commendation from both patients and faculty for my clinical acumen and didactic excellence, I am now preparing to challenge the Dental Hygiene board exam in May 2025. During this interim period, I am eager to leverage my expertise to support peers and aspiring professionals in their academic and clinical pursuits.

Tutoring Experience:

Throughout my academic journey, I have actively engaged in teaching and mentorship, fostering a deep appreciation for knowledge-sharing and student development. During my time in the Dental Hygiene program at Durham College, I served as a peer tutor, providing academic support to fellow students in complex subjects such as Orofacial Anatomy and Dental Hygiene Theory. This experience allowed me to refine my ability to break down intricate concepts into accessible, comprehensible material while adapting to diverse learning styles. Additionally, during my years in Zambia, I tutored elementary school children in English, further strengthening my pedagogical skills and reinforcing my ability to communicate effectively with learners of varying ages and backgrounds. These experiences have enhanced my ability to facilita**Contact Detail Removed**arning in both clinical and theoretical settings, demonstrating my commitment to academic excellence, mentorship, and the advancement of student success.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is structured, adaptive, and student-centered, ensuring that each learner receives targeted support tailored to their individual needs. I begin by assessing the student’s current level of understanding, identifying specific areas of difficulty, and setting clear learning objectives. I employ a combination of evidence-based teaching strategies, including active recall, spaced repetition, and concept mapping, to reinforce retention and comprehension. By integrating practical examples and real-world applications, I bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and clinical practice, particularly in subjects such as Orofacial Anatomy and Dental Hygiene Theory. I also prioritize fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment, encouraging critical thinking and problem-solving through Socratic questioning and interactive discussions. My ability to break down complex concepts into digestible components, coupled with my strong communication skills, ensures that students not only grasp fundamental principles but also develop confidence in applying their knowledge. Through this structured and adaptive methodology, I strive to cultivate independent, self-motivated learners who can excel in both academic and professional settings.
