Personal Description:

My name is Aleena, I am a University of Waterloo Graduate looking to guide and help children gain knowledge and understanding of various concepts they may be struggling with. I am very passionate in problem solving, leadership and guiding individuals to obtain knowledge to the best of their abilities. I enjoy helping others and teaching strategies of comprehension to motivate success in children's academic careers. It is always valuable seeking help in areas that are confusing, and I provide a very positive and safe work environment to ensure comfortability and accessibility.

Tutoring Experience:

I worked at Kumon in High school, teaching children in Kindergarten up to grade 12. The focus at Kumon was Math and English.

Tutoring Approach:

The approach I take when it comes to problem solving and understanding is to communicate and lay out which aspects they understand, what exactly is confusing and why it is confusing. I am very kind and patient, it is important to prioritize the pathway of working towards the goal of the student gaining full clarity in places they may not understand. The first session may consist of outlining the class they are struggling with, and which units or areas may be difficult. I provide worksheets, strategies and some repetition and assessment to ensure full understanding of the subject.
