Information About Aivi
Vancouver tutorPersonal Description:
Hi, my name is Aivi and I am a current Microbiology and Immunology undergraduate student at the University of British Columbia. I specialise in biology and English, but am also a native speaker in French. In high school, I completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, taking high-level courses in biology, chemistry, and geography, and earning an A on my extended essay in biology. I am also familiar and comfortable with the ACT exam and its questions, having taken it myself and scored in the 97th percentile on my first try.
Tutoring Experience:
In high school, I tutored and coached students as a Model United Nations leader on various relevant skills including, but not limited to: public speaking, international politics and relations, debate, collaboration and compromise, and research. I closely coached a team of four students for future leadership roles and a wider group of 20+ students through both local and international Model United Nations conferences.
Tutoring Approach:
I take a personalised approach to tutoring with students by identifying each student's interests, strengths, and weaknesses, and tailoring sessions to them. I back up concepts with real-life examples and visual tools, followed by practice problems. I always strive to guide my students through their concerns, but I also encourage independent learning by helping students develop long-term study goals and efficient study habits.
