Personal Description:
I am a Grade 12 Student attending J. Clarke Richardson Collegiate, intending to graduate in the summer of 2023 and complete an undergraduate degree. I am currently planning on studying Health/Life Sciences at a University such as UofT, Queens, McMaster, and Ontario Tech. I have completed the past three years of High School with a high 90 average and have been on the Honour Roll list every year. I am also actively involved within my school, as I am apart of several clubs along with being the head of some of them. Outside of the community, I take pride in involving myself with volunteer work, and I have over 110 hours of volunteer experience in my community. Ever since I was a child, I have found myself teaching others around me and helping them better understand concepts. I have been tutoring professionally for the past 2 years and in that time span, I have helped numerous students achieve academic success and find new ways of learning that have stuck with them to this day. I have tutored students in both elementary and high school classes and they have all succeeded in subjects they previously found difficult. I believe every student has the ability to achieve high grades, as when hard work is coupled with dedication and commitment, almost anybody can achieve greatness in their academics. Being in school for such a long time, I have found certain study methods that help me achieve high grades, and I can help pass that on to you!

Tutoring Approach:
I take a kind and welcoming approach to tutoring. I pride myself in knowing that my students feel comfortable asking for help in any topic with any question regardless of how difficult it is. Personally, I find it more effective to create a relationship with the student, and actively engage with the student and regularly check in with their well-being. Being able to personally connect with the student allows for a more genuine bond to be formed, and makes tutoring them even more of a joy to do every week. I like to start off tutoring lessons by asking the student what major concept they are having trouble in, and before getting to help them through it, I like to ask them what they already know. Hearing the student's knowledge on the topic they are struggling with opens up a plethora of opportunities for me, not only to see the gaps in their knowledge where they are having difficulties, but also how they take in information they learn and which teaching method I can use to help them best. On top of this, I always make sure to give my students more than enough practice work than they need. This is important for me because although I don't mandate that they must complete all the questions I assign them, it benefits them in the long run because they begin to understand the importance of doing homework/practice questions. Having the students complete 1-2 practice questions based on the lesson not only solidifies their understanding of everything they have learned, but it also helps me see the student's improvement as they work through the material. As a result of all the years of teaching knowledge I have, I am confident in my abilities and I know I can help any student to turn their struggles into strengths. All my students will receive the best effort and communication in order for them to achieve success, and I strive on this fact knowing that many of my students have gone on to achieve great things in their academic careers. I also pride myself in time management and being punctual, as I will always post a link to a Zoom meeting if I am teaching my student online well ahead of the time, and I will get through all the material needed to be covered within the time limit.
