Personal Description:
Math used to cause dread for me because I believed I would be bad at it. I even waited as long as possible to tackle it in college. Then I took some exceedingly difficult classes, like Organic Chemistry, and learned that my attitude toward math was reflected in my grade. I'm a math tutor because I understand how badly some students struggle with it and I can help them.
Tutoring Experience:
I'm currently studying Chemical Engineering, after which I plan to transfer to a four-year university to earn my bachelor's degree in the subject. Since I first took math in college, I have been tutoring my peers in math topics like algebra, trigonometry, and calculus. I enjoy the feeling I get when I help a student go from earning a D to earning an A or B.
Tutoring Approach:
In my mind, it is important for you to aim high with your goals--that way, the result will be high. In order to be a helpful math tutor, I first run through basic concepts with my students so I can see where they are at. I always offer encouragement and positive feedback to my students.
