Personal Description:
Hi there!
My name is Aaron and I’m a native-speaking English teacher and dual citizen of New Zealand and Canada.
Qualifications:
CELTA Certification (Cambridge English Langage Teaching for Adults)
BBus (Bachelor of Business)
I provide fun, effective, and easy-to-learn English lessons online!
I've been in the industry for over 11 years and have taught hundreds of students from all around the world.
I have taught all ages but mostly adults.
My teaching style is student-centred with a focus on real-world English.
Tutoring Experience:
I decided to teach English in 2010 after I graduated from university. It sounded like a fun job and a great way to travel and meet people from around the world.
I taught at some of the best-rated language schools in Auckland, New Zealand for a few years and after that, I moved to Canada where I continued to teach English to adults.
At my most recent school, I achieved a 99% recommendation rate. This was taken from teacher evaluations performed by a total of 113 students over 3 years.
In that same sample, I had 100% for categories of: clarity of lesson, punctuality, assistance, and engaging lessons.
Over my career, I have taught a large variety of classes. I particularly enjoy grammar, pronunciation, business English, conversation skills, and IELTS.
I started teaching students online when the COVID-19 pandemic started in March 2020.
I teach all topics but my favourites and my specialties are:
> English grammar
> Pronunciation and accent modification
> Communication skills and fluency
> IELTS
> Business English
Tutoring Approach:
I teach using a student-centred approach. This puts a student’s interests first and aims to develop learner autonomy and independence.
I am always developing my skills and during lessons, I try to focus a lot on REAL-WORLD English that you are likely to encounter.
A typical lesson with me involves lots of speaking and elicitation of the target language.
I provide useful tasks and advice that you can practice outside of class. I always try to get my student to relate the language we learn to their own personal experiences.
Students are encouraged to bring language they encounter to class. I also provide relevant material and use interactive lessons plans which enable you to reach your goals faster.
