Personal Description:
I am a 4th year student at University of Toronto. I am specialising in Accounting and Economics at the Rotman School of Management. I performed exceptionally well in my IGCSE (7A*s 2As), AS (4As) and A level (2A*s 1A) exams where I studied Accounting, Math, Economics and Chemistry. All through high school and university, I have been a peer mentor and tutor where I help students excel in their tests, exams and career choices. I would love to continue giving back to the community by mentoring students by preparing worksheets, thoroughly explaining to them the course concepts and giving them tips and tricks. This summer I will be working at KPMG as a Tax Intern, and I would really like to dedicate some of my spare time towards helping other students succeed in their education.
Tutoring Experience:
In High School I volunteered as a peer tutor, where i tutored 20 students in different subjects, where 16 of them achieved a high grade in their IGCSE, AS and A levels. I am currently a Peer Mentor and tutor in University of Toronto where I help over 50 first-year students transition to university and help them with their academics going forward in university. Having prior experience in tutoring/teaching, I understand exactly what students are hoping to get from the tutor sessions. So, I'm sure my dedication to tutoring students will enable you to succeed in the course you're taking!
Tutoring Approach:
As a tutor, I like to first explain the course concepts, understand if the student has any challenges in the concepts and reiterate the difficult concepts. I usually prepare worksheets to be done during the week before we meet again for the next session, then we can discuss the worksheet/practice questions in the next tutoring session, followed by discussing the new topic for the week. Leading up to the exam, I prefer to be done with the discussion of course concepts and move on to doing practice tests and exams from previous years. From my previous experience, this approach has worked very well with students helping them perform exceptionally in their exams.
