Personal Description:
I am a 33-year-old Mathematics graduate from the UK, currently working in the financial industry in Sydney. With over a decade of experience in teaching, I have developed a robust skill set that allows me to effectively tutor students of all ages. I have helped students reach their potential in the HSC and to pass the required exams to go to selective schools.
My teaching journey has been marked by consistent 5-star feedback, as reflected in my UK profile: https://www.firsttutors.com/uk/tutor/sam.maths.73/
Beyond my professional and tutoring commitments, I am an active member of the community, playing for two local basketball teams. I am passionate about helping students achieve their academic goals and look forward to providing personalized, high-quality math tutoring to your child.
Tuition Experience:
My journey as a tutor began in 2013 when I started helping my younger sister prepare for her high school exams. This experience revealed my natural talent and passion for tutoring, leading me to pursue it as a part-time profession while completing my BSc and MSc degrees. Over the years, I have successfully assisted a diverse range of students in achieving their individual goals. Some have attained top grades, while others have met their target of passing Mathematics, enabling them to advance to the next stage of their academic pursuits in fields they are passionate about.
Tutoring Approach:
My tutoring approach is laid-back and friendly, with a strong focus on examination preparation. By working through multiple past exam papers, I help students build confidence and familiarity with the subject matter. This method also enhances their problem-solving skills, ensuring they are thoroughly prepared for their exams at the end of the academic year.

Sam
The grades are certainly well deserved in this case. It was my pleasure.
Sam suggested to work a past paper with my son without taking my son on board or checking what help he would like during the Math tuitions.
Sam had his own agenda. He did not check the agenda of my son. All this could be acceptable as my son said that Sam sounds he knows his topic. However, Sam was distracted by checking now and then his phone and texting people during the lesson which I feel it is very unprofessional.
Unfortunately, we feel that we lost time and resources with this tutor.
I did speak with your son before the lesson to discuss what exam board he was taking and where he felt he was at at the moment in terms of progesssion and goals.
Typically I have found in my many years of experience that the best way to improve grades is by exam practise and as such I focus on past papers. Especially on a first lesson so I can see first hand how confident the pupil is at answering the exam material.
I wish you the best of luck in the future,
thanks,
Sam
