Personal Description:
Hi. Before teaching ESL English I worked as an IT Project Manager, travelling the world and working on exciting international projects in 20+ countries. But I discovered that what I really enjoyed was communicating with people from different cultures. So, in 2014 I studied the Cambridge University CELTA in London and started teaching students of all ages from all over the world. I love the idea of opening doors for others - learning a new language opens the door to new worlds, new cultures, new opportunities, new adventures - this is the essence of life. As I have lived and worked in foreign countries I understand fully the challenges of adapting to new places and people. I can speak a little Turkish, Spanish and Portuguese. As an ESL tutor I look forward to opening the English language door to more students from all over the world and sharing their joys as they achieve success.
Tuition Experience:
Since starting ESL teaching in London in 2014, I've been teaching students of all ages (10 - 70), levels and nationalities (20+) My experience includes General English, private tuition, IELTS exam preparation (British Council), Business English, running an English Conversation Club (City of London), Academic writing/editing and working in UK Language schools. Recently I tutored private students in Turkey whilst completing my Masters degree. I'm happy to tailor a personal learning programme to your specific needs.
Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tuition is to understand the goals and preferred learning styles of the student. Students have very different ESL learning goals - social, business and academic goals are common. Students also have different preferred styles of learning - from books, conversation, social activity, music, video, projects. It's always the student's choice. At the moment students seem to enjoy learning online (Zoom or Skype) or in a casual coffee shop environment. I am totally flexible. We will chat and agree on an approach that the student likes. As a tutor my style is very relaxed and friendly. My goal is always to build confidence in the student in a very calm, fun and supportive way. The learning needs to be enjoyable. I've been told that I'm great with beginners or shy students. I'm looking forward to working with you.
