Information about Monique - Caloundra tutor

Personal Description:

My name is Monique and I run Monique's Music! I am a qualified teacher and have experience teaching students from prep to age 70+! I am a community ensemble conductor for two musical groups and have over 10 years experience teaching woodwind and music theory. I have also taught students all over the world through online lessons and really love this medium.

My favourite students are mature-aged students. It's a different dynamic with older students (my oldest students are in their 70s!). Mature-aged students want to be there and are keen to learn. It's not about passing that exam but being the best that they can be and playing the music that brings them joy! I find this extremely reqarding.

Tuition Experience:

I have taught woodwind music for over 10 years in various settings; individual lessons, small groups, workshops, large groups etc
I have been a classroom teacher for 6 years.
I also have a range of conducting experience having conducted both beginner groups, small ensembles, jazz ensembles, concert bands and eclectic groups of instruments that don't quite fit into a category.

Tutoring Approach:

My philosophy is all about fun! If the student is having fun, then the rest will come. I think it is important to have goals but it's also more important to find out what the student wants to achieve. What makes them tick and what they enjoy playing. My enthusiasm helps my students to relax, find their niche and then a love for music. I enable my students by helping them to build confidence and making everything seem possible.
