Personal Description:

Hi all,

My name's Marina, I have been tutoring for years and love gaining more and more experience. I have a background in Accounting as well as a Bachelor of Primary Education. I've taught across all ages from 5-17. I've had experience at several Primary Schools in both Catholic and Public so I'm up to date with regular teaching practices.

Tuition Experience:

I have been offering tutoring to students for the past 8 years.

I've completed three block practicals in schools with Kindergarten, Year 4 and Year 5/6. I casual taught for 3 months across all grades before seeking full time permanent employment on a Year 2 class for 2 years and Year 1 for 2 years… I'm currently still teaching, full time once again on Year 1. Aside from this, I have also recently completed tutoring in a well known tutoring centre on weekends.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in both theory and practical approaches when it comes to understanding something new. I believe several students need to make use of manipulative's to expand their thinking and their understanding. Simple presenting them with a problem and expecting a solution does not work about 95% of the time. There are numerous ways to learn things and I believe in finding a solution that works best for the child. Students need examples and reassurance.
I'm highly organised and conduct pre tests before commencing a tutoring session. I find where a child is struggling and work from there. I also ask students at the end of each lesson if they need further clarification on anything so I know what to prepare for the next week. I also attempt to keep in contact with students throughout the week, free of charge to offer assistance where necessary.
