Personal Description:
I am a teacher, musician and policy professional working on a freelance basis and tutoring across a range of disciplines. Having recently relocated to Australia I am keen to build up a roster of online tutees of all ages, sharing my varied skill set. I am especially keen to work on essay skills and referencing with older students who need support to structure their work, and I also have extensive experience of interview technique. I also have a passion for supporting children struggling with grammar or reading, helping them to develop enthusiasm for skills they find tough.
Tuition Experience:
I have worked as a tutor in the UK and internationally on a remote basis, working with leading agencies such as Cavendish Milton and covering numerous exam boards, curriculums and exam syllabuses. I have experience as a teacher in a number of settings, including private tutoring, schools and prisons, and have worked for extended periods (over a year) with children with dyslexia and with various learning abilities and neurodivergence. I have wide experience of teaching both written and practical musicianship, as well as singing, piano, clarinet and theory. My skill set as a remote tutor uses various online tools, whichever suit pupils best, to achieve results.
Tutoring Approach:
My excellent communication skills combined with my positive, efficient attitude make me a warm, engaging teacher, inviting questions and clarifications while challenging pupils to be their very best. My academic record exhibits my ability to assess appropriate priorities at different times and act accordingly, consistently meeting tight deadlines alongside varied concurrent activities and supporting my pupils who are often busy with numerous commitments to do the same. Furthermore my wider professional experience as a policy professional, researcher and administrator has led me to develop excellent writing and referencing skills, strong organisational skills and wide interview experience, taking many students through interviews for Oxford and Cambridge and supporting with essay style, structure and reference requirements. This experience has made me very well-rounded, adapting my approach to all of my students depending on their needs and interests to ensure tutoring is rewarding and interesting, not a chore.
