Information about Julie - Ascot tutor

Personal Description:

I can tutor in, social science, sociology, education, social theory, feminism, postcolonial theory, and qualitative research methods. I can also help students with research projects and publications.

I have supervised eighteen doctoral students, and many more masters and honours students. I have also published fifty refereed articles, sixteen book chapters, four edited books, and delivered seventy six public lectures and conference presentations. In addition, I have marked 20 doctoral thesis and dozens of masters and honour thesis.

Tuition Experience:

Two years online teaching to refugees, thirty years university teaching and research, eight years high school teaching

For the past two years i have been a volunteer tutor for Cisarua, a refugee led education initiative where I teach online Social Studies (U.S. History, Government and Civics, and Economics and Geography) to young Afghani refugees in Indonesia.

I was also a volunteer guide at the Latrobe Regional Art Gallery during the Da Vinci exhibition.

Tutoring Approach:

As a teacher, lecturer and researcher I have a great deal of experience working with young people. I believe that the key to being a great tutor is approachability, kindness and good humour. I make my students feel at ease by listening carefully, communicating clearly and negotiating realistic timelines.
