Personal Description:
My name is Grace.
I am a classical violinist born in Australia. I have lived in both Tasmania and Sydney, and am currently living and studying my Masters degree in Germany. I am a passionate and experienced teacher of both music and languages. When not performing or teaching, I love to travel and hike!
Whether you want to learn German or music as a hobby, for travel or for school, I am a flexible teacher who always focusses on the students interest and goals!
Tuition Experience:
I have almost 10 years experience as a teacher in several educational sectors. I work extensively as a violin, piano and music theory teacher. I also have experience teaching in classroom settings and extracurricular subjects incl. languages.
German -
I have studied German for 10 years + at both school and university level. I am currently living in Germany and speak the language everyday at both university and work. My language skills are up to date with the current times, and I am familiar with the culture. I am also familiar with the course requirements at both primary and high school level.
Music -
I hold a Bachelor of Music Performance from Sydney University, as well as an AMusA in both violin and piano. I am currently studying a Masters of Music on violin in Germany. I hold casual violin positions in the Tasmanian, Queensland and Melbourne Symphony Orchestras
I have taught music theory as well as violin & piano over 8 years, both privately and at schools in Sydney. Many of my students prepare for AMEB or high school exams, to great success. I am familiar with the various examination requirements and happy to tailor my teaching to these goals.
Tutoring Approach:
I teach a wide variety of students; from beginners to advanced students, adults and young children. This requires a flexible and adaptive teaching approach. I work with each student to identify areas of strengths/weakness, as well as, work towards and achieve certain goals, whether that be school work, exams or just learning for fun!
Regardless, I ensure that a solid baseline (eg. grammar or music knowledge) is developed to enable each student to successfully build and apply their skills. I also focus on real world application of skill, be that an application of vocabulary and grammar to speaking and listening, or applying music theory to an instrument or voice.
