Personal Description:

I am 46 years old and have had a variety of jobs before becoming a teacher at 37 years of age. I have previously worked as a photo-journalist in London and the Middle East. I have travelled extensively and approach life with curiosity and questions. I am a very approachable and relaxed person with excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and enjoy meeting new people.

Tuition Experience:

I have been teaching for nine years, including six years teaching VCE English and History (Revolutions). I have been the Head of the Humanities faculty at a previous school for five years and was integral in implementing a curriculum that gave students greater experience in developing critical thinking skills that better prepared them for VCE exam questions. My student's VCE results have consistently been higher than the state average. I teach not only the knowledge students need, but the structure of the answers that VCE examiners look for.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a very relaxed and flexible tutor. The opportunity to work one on one with a student allows me to cater my instruction to the specific areas that may need attention. I also bring many of my own resources, including Powerpoints and teacher resource books so the student has a wide variety source content. I am also happy to correct work and be available on email for questions and queries.
