Personal Description:

I am qualified as a CELTA ESL teacher. I coach and tutor overseas adult students and having been a student of several European languages in the past, I well understand the challenges of mastering a foreign language. I am a linguist who specialises in pronunciation and language acquisition. My extensive experience as a chartered accountant in financial services and as a business owner in retail gives me a wealth of knowledge to support coaching corporate students in all facets of their daily English needs. I work both with individuals and small corporate groups. I also specialise in IELTS exam preparation and take pride in the success of my students in achieving their desired results in these exams.

ESL Experience:
I have been teaching ESL full-time since 2017 to small corporate groups and individuals, including accountants and lawyers from multinational organisations. I have also done standard IELTS and academic English coaching. Prior to 2017 I coached many South American and Thai students on an ad hoc basis and I now have many Spanish and Asian language speaking clients.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to make lessons enjoyable and practical with a strong student-centred approach, working with the student to identify and resolve areas of weakness including pronunciation, grammar and writing skills. Lessons are designed around the student’s learning pace, requirements and style. Improving language skills is a transformative experience; it can build self-belief and self-confidence in the individual. I have a strong coaching approach to English tutoring. I work closely with corporate clients to ensure needs of the individual and company are met.
