Personal Description:

My name is Carly and I have been working in Education for the past 17+ years. I have a Bachelor of Education in Special Education and a Masters in Literacy Studies. I have worked in the education sector in varying roles including; Primary School Teacher, Education Support Teacher (Primary and Secondary), Head of Department and Head of Year. As Head of Department I was been running the Secondary Education Support Department, working with students from Year 7 through to Year 12, supporting/teaching in a range of different areas; English Curriculum, cross curricular literacy support, study skills, organisation, essay writing, text response, comparative writing, language analysis). I have experience working with students who have additional learning needs (ADHD, disengagement, dyslexia, low cognitive profile, ASD, school refusal, weaknesses in processing speed, working memory, comprehension, reading rate and accuracy etc… ).

I offer both homework support, curriculum support, or further developing areas/skills that need strengthening e.g. comprehension, essay writing, study skills, English. I offer support for all students with or without learning difficulties/disabilities.

I run my tutoring/literacy support as a business (JQ Education) and therefore you will receive invoices with payment options.
Option of online or face to face sessions available. Invoices for NDIS can be arranged. My business has been running in Victoria, however, I am relocating to Sydney in 2025. Face to face sessions will offered from Term 2 in Sydney (Bondi Junction)

From 1st July 2022 GST will be added to cost of session.

As both a classroom and special education teacher, I actively promote inclusion and equality, while creating a safe learning environment where learning opportunities exist for all students. I understand that each student has their own personal learning style and strengths, and through a collaborative approach to learning, and by focusing on each child’s individual needs, I aim to make the curriculum more accessible while instilling confidence in each learner.
