Personal Description:

Hi I'm Ashley (Peiyi) . I am happy to assist with your Chinese study. I'm a graduate student with a Bachelor's degree in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language in China. Afterwards, I completed the Master of Education at Monash University.
In 2021, I founded the MasterChinese Chinese language school to non-native speakers who are interested in learning Chinese as a second language.

Tuition Experience:

I've been working as a private mandarin tutor since 2018. So far, I've taught more than 150 students with approximately 2, 500 teaching hours. The learners are from worldwide. My students successfully passed HSK3 (intermedia**Contact Detail Removed**vel)  with an average of 294 (out of 300) scores. VCE SL student has received 35.2% out of 40% for SACs.

Tutoring Approach:

I offer variety range of courses for both kids and adults, including Chinese for kids, VCE Program (SL/SLC), HSK Preparation, Spoken Chinese, Survival Chinese, Business Chinese, and Custom Chinese lessons. Regardless of your age, career and current level, the courses will be tailored to facilitate your needs.

Chinese for Kids
For learners aged 4-12 with a background in overseas life, we offer personalised series lessons, including Basic Chinese, Chinese Character Recognition and Advanced Chinese. Based on the cognitive ability of children of different ages, the teaching content covers mainly pinyin, character recognition, listening, reading and writing comprehensive practice. Students are expected to achieve set targets at the end of the programme, such as recognising and reading pinyin independently, becoming familiar with everyday language and conducting basic conversations.

VCE Program
The VCE Program is designed for students who would like to participate in VCE Chinese Second Language, as well as Chinese Language, Culture and Society courses. The course is divided into specific training in listening, speaking, reading and writing, together with the previous sample assessments of the VCE exams, to provide students with systematic training in exam techniques.

Spoken Chinese
This is designed for students who would like to boost oral Chinese skills. The course is utilised the task-based language learning pedagogy that embeds the real-world communication task into the classroom settings to facilitate daily communication needs. In each lesson, wide ranges of topics, such as making an inquiry, expressing needs, making appointment, etc will be selected and discussed during each lessons. Sample sentences, basic grammar as well as conversation practice are also included. Student is expected to apply and integrate the content into the authentic context.

HSK Preparation
HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi) is known as the Chinese Proficiency Test, an international standardised test of Chinese language proficiency, assesses non-native Chinese speakers’ abilities in using the Chinese language in their daily, academic and professional lives. The Preparation course equips the learners with a comprehensive and systematic tutorial so as to enable them to receive the satisfying results. In addition to the regular HSK test instructions, a wide range of topics are covered, as well as vocabulary and grammar from everyday life to academic life.
